Fars News Agency 28/5/2015 ~ Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Bashar al-Jafari said that Al-Jazeera’s interview with the leader of Al-Nusra Front terrorist group Mohamad al-Golani violated UN counterterrorism resolutions and was aimed at encouraging terrorism.
“The interview was used to promote terrorism and make threats to the government and people in Syria,”al-Jafari said, addressing a meeting of the UN Security Council in New York on Thursday.
Al-Jafari’s remarks came after the Qatari-funded television network broadcast the first part of an interview with al-Golani late on Wednesday.
“It is clear that the Qatari regime is seeking to clean up the image of the Nusra Front through this interview with the head of a terrorist group that has been blacklisted by the UN Security Council,” he added.
